We live in exciting times where health paradigms are shifting as the science of epigenetics discovers more and more evidence that has surpassed our earlier views of genetic determinism.

We now know that health outcome is not just a result of the genes we inherit, its often to do with each individual’s interaction with their environment that dictates the state of their health and wellbeing. Environment covers very many factors including our nutrition – what we eat and drink – and research shows that many of the nutrients we take in through the diet and through certain supplements, actually ‘talk’ to the genes and can influence their expression. So its not just the genetic blueprint that determines our health - the environment in which we bathe our genes is also very important. This finding means that many conditions we once thought of as purely hereditary are now considered preventable if we modulate a person’s environment and lifestyle to gain the healthiest possible function of all aspects of their systems and biology.
